Collagen Supplements for Health, Beauty and Fitness

IMG_2651.JPGFor Many Years the Japanese have been taking Collagen Supplements to enhance their youthfulness. What the Japanese discovered was when they applied collagen topically it did little for the skin, but taking it orally helped them achieve a healthier appearance.
It takes approximately 3 months to see the benefits from taking collagen, I have been taking my collagen for 4 months and definitely see an improvement in the overall appearance of my skin hair and nails. My supplement of choice is Natures Bounty Advanced Collagen that can be found at Walmart and Shoppers drug mart with a Hair, Skin and Nails option in gummy formula for easy intake.

The following are reasons you should consider adding collagen supplements to your daily beauty regime.

It strengthens bones, joints and cartilage. It reduces cellulite.
It helps smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by tightening the skin and improving elasticity.
It promotes healthier skin including working on stubborn stretch marks.
It helps with gut health and has been known to help manage IBS symptoms.
It aids in taking down acne swelling because it works as an anti-inflammatory.
It helps your hair and nails grow thicker, longer and stronger.
It helps with regenerating missing amino acids that help to regulate hormones.
It is a pure protein, perfect to take after a work out to help build muscles.                  It is high in glycine amino acid it can help with sleep and stress relief.
It is good for metabolism because it works at maintaining thyroid health.
If you have any injuries especially bruises or cuts collagen can help you heal faster.

Warning: taking supplements can be dangerous especially if the supplements are not from a reliable source as they could contain contaminants and are not always FDA regulated. The opinions in this post are mine personally if you have any questions or concerns about collagen supplements please address them with your physician. Vegans take note that collagen is usually derived from animal proteins.
