How I received a Triangl bikini from instagram

Triangl hasn’t spent a cent on advertising, relying wholly on the photo-sharing platform — think suntanned models frolicking on tropical beaches — where it has 3.1 million followers. “Having no money was a blessing in disguise,” says Ellis. While they do give swimwear to celebrities and others who influence trends, there’s “nothing transactional”, he says. “This way, there’s a sense of authenticity that’s way more powerful than a billboard.” Triangl’s own account boasts over 3 million followers, and the image-based social media platform has been crucial to the company’s cult following. reported The Australian

Thank you to Triangl and Erin and Craig for sending me my beautiful swimsuit

How To Select a Ripe Juicy Pineapple

Step-by-Step Guide To Selecting a Ripe Pineapple

Step 1- Check the color of pineapple skin – The skin should be yellowish gold in color with no white or brown areas. The higher the yellow reaches on the pineapple, the more even the flavor will be throughout the fruit.

Step 2- Look at and feel the texture of the pineapple- A wrinkled texture means the fruit has deteriorated inside, feel the pineapple make sure its firm with a bit of a give to the skin check for soft spots or indents, Look out for any leaks or cracks in the skin and look to see if leaves are stiff and brown.

Step 3- Inspect the pineapple eyes- Carefully inspect the eyes on the top and bottom of the pineapple, the larger the eyes the longer the pineapple stayed on the plant to get ripe and become sweet.

Step 4- Smell the pineapple- The pineapple should smell a bit sweet but not too sweet if you smell a hint of alcohol or the pineapple smells too sweet, it has over-ripened and is not the one.

Step 5- Tap your pineapple and listen to the sound it makes- a ripe pineapple when tapped will sound weighty and dull but an unripened pineapple will sound hollow.

Step 6- Go home with your ripe delicious and nutritious pineapple and enjoy

Step 7- Store your pineapple on the counter and eat it within 3-5 days you can also refrigerate any pineapple that has been sliced but keep in mind once sliced it is almost impossible to look at and know whether it is past its shelf life and always eat within 6 days.

Field Mint– In the wild, field mint grows in sandy and wetland areas and meadows in Europe. Kiehl’s Comes to Canada

I recently joined the staff of Kiehl’s Queen Street West for their launch event. I was super excited to see that Kiehl’s opened here in Toronto Canada, because I have been trying to get my hands on their Lip # 1 treatment for years since my cousin brought me back a few from her trip to Korea. The event was fabulous, Kiehl’s didn’t miss a detail.

The event was catered by Kupfert and Kim with fresh coffee from Cali love.

I dug into a few of the chocolate covered strawberries from the locally owned and run shotberry

Kiehl’s features modern and classic style around their store and their products are all organized by sections making it easy to find just what you are looking for.

Peter Grande is the Assistant manager at the Toronto Eaton Center Kiehl’s location and works with their Canadian Public Relations team he is passionate when it comes to skincare and very knowlegable. I will be returning to Kiel’s Eaton Center sometime over the upcoming weeks for a one on one with Peter so he can create a custom blend oil for my skin. Peter is also a blogger and has some amazing tips and recommendations on his blog  www.itspetergrande.com

Now a little but about the products I took home with me.

www.kiehls.ca

Lip Balm #1 SPF 4 sunscreen. Relieves Cracked or Chapped Lips. Not Tested on Animals. Temporarily protects and helps relieve chapped or cracked lips. Helps protect lips from the drying effects of wind and cold weather.
I Love this lip balm and so does my hubby, great for both men and women it keeps my lips hydrated and smells amazing.
Kiehl’s Butterstick Lip Treatment SPF 25  Made with coconut oil, instantly melts onto lips, providing a cushion of soothing moisture. With antioxidants, including lemon butter, combined with broad spectrum SPF 25 sunscreen, Butterstick Lip Treatment SPF 25 provides year-round protection for lips. Lips feel and look softer, smoother and moisturised, and stay hydrated for up to 12 hours after application.
Having been a fan of Lip Balm #1 I was so excited to try the Butterstick in pop of peonies, it is the perfect shade of summery pink, perk of this product is its long lasting I feel this product working its magic hours later as they claim and in the past few weeks I have seen a reduction of lines around my lips due to the amazing natural ingredients.
Midnight Recovery Cleansing Oil This all-in one non-comedogenic cleansing formula emulsifies with water to a cleansing milk, gently, yet effectively dissolving even difficult-to-remove makeup and impurities without over-drying. It leaves skin not only fresh and clean but also skin balanced, soothed and prepared for optimal night-time replenishment. made from an aromatic blend of pure botanical oils: Squalane, a planted-derived lipid with a natural affinity for skin; Evening Primrose Oil, rich in Omega-6 Fatty Acids; and Lavender Essential Oil. And it’s Soap-free, Sulfate-free, and Mineral Oil free. Perfect one-stop cleanser.
This cleansing oil and makeup remover is the best one I have tried to date, it takes off all of my stubborn mascara and is so gentle and smells luxorious.
Midnight Recovery Concentrate One night. A few drops. Younger-looking skin by morning. Skin’s moisture level is replenished overnight. 99.8% Naturally Derived Ingredients. Helps to recover radiance by morning. Paraben-Free.
This product works so well on my fine lines in my forehead and puffiness around my eyes that happens on mornings after nights when I do not get my recommended 8 hours of sleep.
Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado Unique, concentrated texture.Does not migrate into eyes.Gently moisturizes the delicate eye area. Ophthalmologist and dermatologist-tested. Rich and creamy non-migrating formula that delivers moisture to the delicate under eye-area. Gently protects the skin against external aggressors.
Everything recommended to treat my eyes always makes them burn, not Keihl’s, I love how thick the product goes on without looking thick and I do see a reduction of puffiness and dark circles once I use this treatment.
Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Eye-Brightening Concentrate Line-reducing skin concentrate, containing 10.5% Vitamin C.Helps reduce the appearance of marionette lines from the corners of the mouth, leading towards the chin.Improves the appearance of crows feet lines and wrinkles as well as Sub-orbital wrinkles in the eye area. Helps to improve skin appearance and texture.
Vitamin C is proven to fight signs of ageing so I was really excited to see Keihl’s brightening concentrate had a high concentrate of vitamin C. This Eye-Brightening Concentrate is like coffee for tired eye and it works fast.

Summer Skincare with The Lotus Project

IMG_2090

Recently  I joined Aisha and friends of The Lotus Project for a day of summer sangria and participated in a skin care workshop where we gave ourselves facials and learned techniques to use during our every day daily skin- care routine. I wanted to share with you what I learned and a few of my tried and tested favorites by the Skintelligence skin care line.

IMG_2087

I met Aisha part time “Mompreneur”, currently working in the insurance industry, and also founder of The Lotus Project, whose admiration of the Buddhist practice provided a foundation for The Lotus project. The Lotus Project is a lifestyle brand designed to build a community for driven millennials, multi-preneurs and the like to provide a one stop online resource to support growth, inspire and connect. A lotus flower grows from murky waters, blooms out of the darkness and radiates into the world.  Like the lotus, we all have the ability to grow and be successful in everything we do despite what the origin of our beginnings may be- mud and all. The Lotus encourages you to live by your own rules, be fearless, remember community over competition and always give back. With your feet planted and head to the sky: “Rise and be beautiful in everything you do.”

IMG_2096

The workshop was lead by fellow blogger Khristine KCHEZELLE https://kchezelle.wordpress.com her blog explores fitness, knitting, skin-care, makeup and general lifestyle, she is a diverse girl and I look forward to learning more from her at upcoming workshops.

IMG_2098

Khristine was assisted by instagramer Marigold Bandida , she is full of great tips for makeup and skincare and a makeup application teacher at workshops around the gta.

IMG_2099

Skintelligence is a skin care line that uses natural extracts to soothe and maintain healthy skin, I found the products were not only natural but also did not irritate my sensitive skin.

IMG_2095

I learned the following tips about skincare product application.

  1. Make sure to pat products into the skin and not rub them in, rubbing wastes product and causes sagging and wrinkles.
  2. The applicator on the eye cream was made of metal, the ladies suggested putting cold metal under the eyes to activate and stimulate the dead blood that cause our eyes to look puffy and dead.
  3. tFor a more radient glow, treating skin issues from the inside is recommended, we tried the twice a day liquid antioxidants which have 95 % absorption rate.
  4. When using a facial wash, always rub a bit of product in your hand before applying to activate and emulsify the cleanser.
  5. Proper pH balance is essential for your skin, the surface of human skin is acidic with a pH ~5. This low pH value is maintained through the production of free fatty acids during cell maturation and our secretion of fatty and lactic acids in sweat.

I was rather impressed with the line of products that I used in my facial mini session A Facial Cleanser, A Facial Mask, A Facial Spray and a Facial Serum.

Skintelligence Hydra Derm Deep Cleansing Emulsion  cleanser activates in water and is a deep penetrating cleanser that loosens and removes dirt, makeup and oil and contains aloe vera, chamomile extract and lavender extract.

The Skintelligence Facial Firming Masque facial mask promotes circulation and improves visual signs of aging caused by stress and the environment. The amazing natural ingredients in this product include aloe leaf extract and lavender oil to help to soothe any irritated skin.

I personally loved how fast this product worked, after 12 minutes I could see a difference in my skin tone and appearance it looked radiant and more firm, the mask was different than most because it was clear.

Skintelligence pH Skin Normalizer spray assists your skin to maintain normal pH levels while helping the skin fight the effects of pollution and other environmental conditions while improving skin’s natural barrier function.

I loved that the product exfoliates dead skin cells and removes dirt, makeup and oil that clog pores while having an alcohol-free formula that supports elasticity and an even skin tone. This product is perfect for spraying on after a summer swim or when it gets hot as a freshening mist.

A drop of Skintelligence Skin Perfecting Complex serum promotes smoother skin. I loved that this product contained proteins and amino acids and natural ingredients such as dandelion, carrot, lemon grass and violet.

Stoney’s wants to be known for  being a great restaurant with amazing food and charm. Stoney’s is a casual eatery with food fresh from the market served in a distinct atmosphere, a modern take on traditional classics. Everything at Stoney’s, from the daily soups to the artisan pizzas, is prepared with only the finest ingredients coupled with an unmatched passion for the art of cooking.

How to make the most out of your cottage vacation

  1. Take a nature walk, look for flowers to take pictures of, if you have pets you can bring them along for the adventure but make sure to look out for rattlesnakes, poison ivy, hazardous water or debris and any other danger.
  2.  If there is water, you can go fishing, go swimming, hangout on the dock or by the waterfront. If there are water toys, canoes or boats even better, but I recommend having a buddy when you canoe or boat in case something happens or bad weather rolls in.
  3.  Its fun to go to the book store and pick up a good book. If its warm, read outside on a blanket in a chair or on the deck and if its chilly, you can cozy up in the bedroom, sun room or living space.
  4.  Cottage sunsets are gorgeous there is something about being out where it is quiet and it is absolutely breath-taking when you take in the scenery and colours.
  5. Have tea and coffee in the quirkiest space, the quirkier the cottage, the more inspiration you can draw from the items and surroundings, plus they make for some original and fun content.
  6.  Visit the store in town where they have ice cream, the nearest supply stop often carries ice cream in unique fun flavours. Stock up on candy so you don’t regret it later when you are back in isolation at the cottage. Buy extra candy to share with others because honestly it will make you feel good and it goes a long way with others receiving you in a positive way, it costs little to include others.
  7. While in the wilderness why not try a sage smudge ritual or meditation, find a quiet space to be alone and really focus on healing and clearing your mind. Take in you time. Get solitude.
  8.  Take in the scenery. A green view and the sound of birds is a welcomed change from the city and suburbs and makes for great inspiration if you make a space your away from home office. reading, blogging or working on the computer can really produce creative content.
  9.  Be social, ask the people around you questions, dig around for a fun game or google one on the internet if you have access, even just chatting and catching up is a true pleasure.

Eat and drink, try a new cocktail or recipe and share with your friends and family. It feels so great to have a snack and enjoy a vacation bevy in cozy clothing.

I recommend limiting cellular communication as much as possible unless it’s for a special purpose. Time is much more enjoyable when you spend it undivided with the people you are at the cottage with. Hours and Hours of phone time, Instagram and snap chat really take away from the social vibe and the whole isolation peace and tranquility thing.

But First… We Brunch

IMG_0419.PNGFRANK

Art Gallery of Ontario
317 Dundas Street West Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5T 1G4

My girlfriend and I recently went to The Art Gallery of Ontario for brunch and these are my thoughts on my experience. The space was massive and the tables had a good distance from one another, wine filled the walls making for a great conversation and also gave us something to look at and study. The service was quick and our serve was helpful but very respectful of our privacy and dining experience. The pricing was very fair and we really enjoyed the menu items that we chose to share.

The Art Gallery of Ontario Frank Restaurant is run by Executive Chef Renée Bellefeuille , she brings over 20 years of culinary experience. Bellefeuille has worked at The Drake Hotel, the Consulate General of France in Toronto, and alongside Jamie Kennedy, with whom she worked as Pastry Chef for five years. Bellefeuille is inspired by Indian, Sri Lankan, South American, Mexican, Middle Eastern and North African cuisine. Bellefeuille leads her team in combining global flavours and local ingredients to produce plates that are aesthetically satisfying and pleasing to all the senses.

My girlfriend and I had originally thought about the fix price brunch menu but when we saw how large and fresh the portions were we opted on sharing the following plates

cauliflower steak – vegan
warm date and quinoa salad, spicy cashew sour cream
pea shoots, pomegranate seeds

I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed the flavours of the vegan plate, the pomegranate seeds added a nice acidity to the spicy cashew sour cream, we loved the texture of the quinoa with the cashew and sprouts.

fresh baked pastries
fresh selection of house-baked pastries and scones, compound butter, jam

The fresh baked pastries were light, buttery and fresh, I really found the croissants to be super flakey and fresh but I was not impressed by the scones. I enjoy a dense scone and found my scone was a bit on the dry side, my friend however disagreed and really liked the scone. It is worth noting that not food was left on either plate.
